Housing & transportation
Good housing is important when you work. We offer you a safe, clean place to relax and recover after a day’s work.
We have our own locations available in Nispen (near Roosendaal), Bergen op Zoom and Ossendrecht. Our own team provides maintenance, supervision and safety. In Nispen there are studios with their own kitchen and toilet. At other locations you share facilities such as kitchen and bathroom with colleagues.
We also rent housing from reliable parties who understand what you need. All locations meet SNF certification requirements.
For housing through Pollux, you enter into a separate residence agreement. This is separate from your employment contract. As a result, the rent is usually not deducted from your salary and you have sufficient time to arrange other housing when your job ends.
The cost of housing through Pollux depends on the location where you are staying. Rent is always within the limits of applicable laws and regulations.
At Pollux, you receive your full salary each week and we also charge your housing costs separately each week. This is not automatically deducted from your salary in most cases. Therefore, your employment contract and your rental contract are separate. Should your employment contract be terminated, you will have sufficient time to look for another job and/or place to live.
All Pollux housing meets the requirements of SNF certification. That means sites are inspected for quality, safety and livability. You live in a clean and safe environment where you can rest after your workday.
How do I get to my workplace? Does Pollux arrange transportation?
If you do not have your own transportation, you may be eligible for appropriate transportation. The type of transportation depends on the distance between your residence and work.
- Is your work within a 30-minute bike ride? Then you get a Pollux bike.
- Is the distance greater? Then you can travel together with colleagues in a Pollux car.
Do you have a driving license valid in the Netherlands and are you willing to drive a Pollux car with colleagues? Then you will receive a daily allowance for this. Moreover, for the driver, travel time is considered as working time. This way we appreciate your responsibility.
In addition to bicycles and cars, Pollux has its own group transportation. Our drivers take up to eight employees at a time from the residential location to work and back. They also provide transportation to, for example, a family doctor, city hall or office appointments.

If you want to make a living in the Netherlands with your family, this is certainly possible. However, you should keep in mind that the available housing is usually not suitable for families. In that case, you arrange your own housing and transportation. You can get support in finding a place to live, but suitable family housing is scarce in the Netherlands.
Guidance and development
Good communication is important when working and living in the Netherlands. Your job coach speaks Dutch and English in addition to his or her native language (e.g. Polish or Romanian). So you can always communicate in a language you understand well.
At work, it is important that you have a sufficient command of English or Dutch. By doing so, you will work more safely, understand instructions better and make your world in the Netherlands bigger.
Your job coach, or if absent a possible colleague, is your permanent contact. On working days between 05:30 and 18:00 you can reach him or her by phone or e-mail. Outside these times we remain available for emergencies, illness or other urgent situations that cannot wait until the next day.
Yes. You are our priority, and you deserve the right support. During your first visit to our office, you’ll meet your job coach right away. He or she will help you with your work, scheduling, housing, and transportation. Your job coach works with a dedicated team, so there’s always someone available to help you if your job coach isn’t there. Outside of office hours, you can only reach us in case of an emergency.
Through our Academy, you can take various training courses. These include language training, safety certificates and forklift or reach truck courses. You can also take part in introductory training courses about living and working in the Netherlands or specific professional training courses that match your job and ambitions. Ask about the possibilities.
You not only receive guidance in your work, but also in living in the Netherlands. We will help you become familiar with practical matters, rules and customs. Are you open to new experiences and other cultures? Then you will increase your chances, develop yourself faster and build a stable future in the Netherlands.
Yes, this is definitely possible. You usually start with a 12-month contract. This contract can be extended. You may terminate it yourself in the interim. With mutual satisfaction, you can advance to a permanent contract at Pollux or be employed directly by the company where you work.
Life in the Netherlands
Yes. Before you start working, we arrange an appointment with the municipality so you can get a BSN number. We also provide transportation to the congregation. With a BSN number, you immediately fall under the proper tax rules and avoid paying too much tax. Because of your privacy, you must open your own bank account. We are not allowed to do that for you and can only advise you in this.
Basic health insurance is mandatory in the Netherlands. This insurance covers general practitioner care, emergency care and hospital care, among others.
We are working with HollandZorg, a health insurance company with a lot of experience with migrant workers. They offer multilingual information, digital GP care and support for questions about the Dutch healthcare system. Do you already have your own health insurance? Then you are not obliged to switch.
Your rights depend on your employer. If you work through Pollux, you are entitled to correct and timely payment according to the collective bargaining agreement for temporary workers and the terms of employment of the company where you work. We also ensure timely payment of your wages, safe housing (if applicable), appropriate transportation and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This is guaranteed through our certifications and our membership in the NBBU.
Do you feel unsafe or unfairly treated? If so, contact your job coach. If you find that difficult or not safe, you can contact our confidential advisor. We treat your report confidentially and carefully.
We take signals seriously and, where necessary, engage management immediately to resolve the situation. If you do not succeed in restoring trust, there are independent organizations in the Netherlands that can help you further.
